Irish roots in the Colony of Avalon date back to Lord Baltimore's original settlement in 1621, when he first came to the New World with a group of Irish Catholics.

The early part of the 18th century saw a major influx of Irish fishermen and women to the settlement. It was these Irish settlers who built homes and started families all along the Southern Shore. For generations they celebrated the customs and traditions of their beloved native Ireland through humor, music and song.

Each year we remember these early times and celebrate the strength and character of our forefathers through the retelling of their stories in theatre and concert. The plays and music include traditional and original material, accompanied by a delicious meal of authentic Newfoundland entrees and desserts.

This year our Summer Dinner Theatre is titled "Spin the Wheel". The show, written by Annette Mooney and directed by Kevin Lewis, will open on Friday, June 25th and will run every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. until September.

"Wander back to the 1950's when barrels from Boston arrived filled with clothes, fish was dried on flakes and the Garden Party in Ferryland was the social event of the year."
Join the McCarthy family and experience the fun and carrying on as they "Spin the Wheel".
